TDI Extended Range Diver

This course provides the training and experience required to competently utilize air for dives to a depth of 180 FSW that require staged decompression, utilizing Nitrox mixtures or oxygen during decompression. Students will be taught proper techniques, equipment requirements, and hazards of deep air diving.

Prerequisites

Divers interested in the TDI Extended Range Diver Course must have TDI Advanced Nitrox and TDI Decompression Procedures certification or equivalent, must be 18 years of age, and have a minimum of 100 logged dives of which 25 must beĀ  deeper than 100 FSW.

Lecture

  • History of deep air diving

  • Physics

  • Physiology

  • Decompression Options

  • Equipment Considerations

  • Dive Tables

  • Dive Planning

  • Procedures

Open Water Dives

Open water skills will include properly analyzing gas mixtures, demonstrating pre-dive planning, and executing the planned dives within the limits, planning for contingency situations and problems, safety stops, proper deployment of lift bag and reel, simulated emergency gas sharing, deployment of backup regulator or bail-out SCUBA system, switching and isolating a malfunctioning regulator, and simulating a tow of an unconscious diver. Maximum training depths will not exceed 180 FSW.

Equipment Requirements

Mask, fins, snorkel, buoyancy compensating device with power inflator and proper lift for equipment configuration, weights, cylinders properly cleaned and marked as required for EAN use and appropriate to air consumption and dive plan with dual outlet manifold, travel mix cylinders and/or decompression mix cylinders appropriate to air consumption and dive plan and marked as required for EAN use each with submersible pressure gauges, regulators properly marked and cleaned as required for EAN use with long hose second stage, submersible pressure gauge, redundant depth gauge and bottom timer and/or dive computer, primary and redundant light sources, exposure suit proper for diving environment, primary and redundant line cutting devices, reel adequate for maximum planned depth, 50 pound minimum rated lift bag, and slate.

Course Fees

Just $400.00! The fee includes the book. The TDI certification card is $25.00.
