Land Drills
Use of guidelines
Following guide lines with and without vision
Simulation of silt- out
One confined water dive must be conducted
A minimum of 4 open water dives, 90 minute bottom time must be conducted
-
Proficient in propulsion techniques:
Modified flutter
Modified frog,
Modified dolphin
Standard shuffle kick
Swim a distance of 75 feet without a mask
Swim in a simulated out of air situation (without breathing and exhaling slowly) for a distance of at least 45 feet and commence gas sharing. While gas sharing, continue to swim for a distance of at least 200 feet while maintaining a swim rate of approximately 60 feet per minute
Determine SAC rate and RMV
Practice use of reel and line
In the overhead environment, practice running the line and making tie wraps
With eyes closed, follow a guideline in the overhead environment
Share breathing gas while following the guideline, both with eyes open and with eyes closed
Perform an ‘S’ drill prior to commencement of all dives.
Leak check each member’s equipment
Breathe underwater from both/all regulators to ensure proper function
Perform light checks
Perform valve shutdowns combined with regulator switches
If isolator valves are used, these are also to be closed and the re opened
Buddies should check that all valves are back in proper position at the end of drill
On first dive with a new partner, perform a gas sharing drill
