According to DNR regulations we can spear pan fish and rough fish in the Madison Lakes (with a fishing license). If you want to spear carp, that's fine and encouraged as it will clean them out of the local ecosystem, but the pan fish sound like better eatin'!
So why spear fish? Spearfishing is a more sustainable practice than line angling. Spearfishing, similar to hunting, allows you to select your target and take no more then you intend to use. Spearfishing allows the angler to select fish that are in abundance, which leads to a more sustainable ecosystem. In addition, you get to DIVE while you FISH...what could be better?
